I don’t know what kind of fairy dust they put in these, but these tires are fast, sticky, and ridiculously supple.
I replaced a set of Maxxis Reavers with the Boken Pros and the difference was immediate. They roll noticeably faster, feel smoother over rough stuff, and somehow still manage to corner confidently on pavement like a much “tighter” tire.
I ride in Southern California, so basically every ride includes a little bit of everything: road, hardpack, gravel, jeep road, and the occasional singletrack. These handle all of it extremely well. They hook up on loose surfaces way better than you’d expect from how quick they feel, and the rubber has that “sticky” feel in corners without seeming fragile or sketchy.
They’re not a full-on downhill tire, so if your rides are mostly aggressive chunk or high-speed washboard descents, you might want something beefier. But for true mixed-terrain gravel riding, these are as close to “do-it-all” as I’ve used.
Bottom line: fast on the road, confident off it, and unbelievably comfortable. I’m sold.
